Grace and peace, members and friends of the Rehoboth Congregational Church!"
I took Harrison to the Providence Children's Museum on Saturday and I overheard a conversation between two girls who must have been six or seven years old.
Hi! What's your name?
Hi Hailey, I'm Kaitlin. Do you want to be my friend and play with me
And then the girls started playing together.
I was struck by how easy it was for them - two strangers, together in the same place, able to easily introduce themselves to one another and start working together.
I wish it was that easy for adults!
We have talked a lot about hospitality in our church over the past two years, particularly how we welcome guests in worship and how we get to know new members. We have come a long way, but there is always room for improvement!
Since it is the beginning of the year, I wanted to bring this topic to the front burner and just remind everyone how important it is that we keep trying. Yes, sometimes it is uncomfortable to put ourselves out there and yes, oftentimes it is easier to just talk to the people that we know, but our community is so much stronger when we step outside of our comfort zones and open our arms, our doors and our hearts to people who are seeking a church family.
Thank you for all of your hard work! See you on Sunday.
With love & angeltude,
- Rev. Sarah

and those who like to work with wood....
Winter is here, with snow soon to arrive and many of you are looking for indoor things to keep busy. Here is a great opportunity to make some sawdust, and great items for our Woodworkers Room at the 2019 Bazaar. Making wooden toys!
I have plans from several books, and a few online resources, that will allow you to make some really cool wooden toys. All have a parts list and complete plans, and most are fairly simple to construct. Some of these are: a biplane, a child's play clock, a dump truck, a fire truck, a freight train, a pull along grasshopper, a tugboat, and a vintage truck, and I'm looking for a few more. If you want to look for something more challenging search Google for Toys and Joys and they have lots of really nice plans. YouTube has some great videos from wooden toy makers, also.
I have a shop with lots of wood and tools, and would love to have one or two of you at a time over to work on making some of these toys. Guys and gals are welcome. If you are interested, or want more information, see me in Fellowship after service, call me, 508-496-0171, or email me, email@example.com
We are in the process of updating our RCC member photo display near the elevator. We need to add many new member photos as well as updating those currently displayed. If you have a favorite photo of yourself or your family that is great. If you would preferred to have a photo taken at church we will have a sign-up sheet on the table near the elevator.
It is important that you follow these instructions:
1. Photo must be 4x6"
2. Photo must be horizontal
3. Photo should be a close-up
4. Print names on back of photo and we will make a label for the front
5. Please bring your photo to church and replace your old one.
New members can find a spot on the wall and we will arrange them alphabetically in December.
