Welcome to the RCC Church School Program!
Beginning in September 2013 our Church school will launch three wonderful new curriculums!
Grades Pre-K to 4 will begin a new DVD based curriculum called Friends and Heroes (www.friendsandheroes.com). Friends and Heroes is an animated adventure series which introduces today’s generation of children to the stories of the bible in an appealing fresh and memorable way. The main characters are based in a fascinating and turbulent period of history, 69-71AD.
The students will enjoy a snack and juice while experiencing the bible stories first-hand!! We hope this series will help the children place a face with stories and characters in the bible, making them unforgettable. After the children enjoy the 12-15 minute animated series, they will be separated into their classrooms based on age and have an exciting activity-based teaching session with their teacher and peers!!
Every 6-8 weeks the children who are participating in the Friends and Heroes curriculum will come together for Project Rewind, a party, full of games and activities designed to test their memory on what they have learned. Parents will be asked to donate baked goods to be shared with the entire congregation. This is a wonderful time for children and congregation to be joined together in fellowship!!
Grades 5 & 6 will begin ‘Feasting on the Word’ for Tweens. We believe tweens are on a voyage from childhood into adulthood. Tweens rely completely on social networks. Feasting on the Word for Tweens helps shape learning experiences that encourage investigation of the many ways Christian faith can shape life choices. This curriculum based solely for tweens focuses on their interests and questions they may have at this age. Tweens will learn to work alongside their peers to journey through the biblical texts, all the while enjoying social networking activities.
Grades 7 & 8 will continue with ‘Feasting on the Word’ for Youth. This curriculum promises to provide opportunities for this age group to explore their personal and communal identity in Jesus Christ through meaningful community building experiences, engaging Bible study, and relevant learning activities. Biblical stories will come alive in new and creative ways. In response to God’s amazing and unconditional love, youth will be challenged to put their faith into action as they grow to understand themselves as Christ disciples. Each week they will explore a media connection section that ties the week’s scripture to a film, video, song, or web site.
We welcome all children, tweens and youth to explore their faith and share their beliefs with their peers and our church community! No matter what your beliefs are you are always welcome here with our church family.
